    Woman dies and two injured in horror crash which left car embedded in tree

    A 32-year-old woman has died in a horror crash which left her car embedded in a tree.

    Two others were injured in the accident between two cars in Walsall, West Midlands, last night.

    A man, 22, was arrested and is today being questioned on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, police said.

    Emergency services were called to the junction of Broadway and Magdalene Road shortly before 7.30pm on Sunday evening.

    Two ambulances, two paramedic officers, a trauma doctor and a critical care paramedic attended the scene, along with fire crews and police.

    They discovered a red Vauxhall Corsa on its side, wedged between a garden wall and a tree, and the mangled wreckage of a yellow Audi S3 in the road.

    The woman, who was driving the Corsa, was pronounced dead at the scene despite the best efforts of medics.

    The Audi driver, who did not need treatment, was detained by officers.

    Two passengers in the Audi were rushed to hospital with serious injuries, officers said.

    A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “We arrested the 22-year-old Audi driver at the scene and he remains in custody for questioning.

    “He was not hurt. Two passengers in the Audi were taken to hospital for treatment but their injuries are not life-threatening.

    “Our collision reconstruction experts have examined the scene in The Broadway by the junction with Magdalene Road and enquiries are underway.

    “We’re appealing for any witnesses or anyone who saw the yellow Audi S3
    driving along The Broadway before the collision, or of it being driven nearby in the build-up.

    “And if anyone has CCTV or dash-cam footage that shows the Audi before the collision then we really need them to get in touch.”

    Officers launched an investigation and are appealing for information from witnesses


    Emergency crews were called out to reports of a major road traffic accident on one of Walsall’s main roads.

    A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “On arrival, we discovered four patients. The first, the driver of the first car, was freed from the vehicle by the fire service.

    “Once freed, crews quickly commenced advanced life support, although, it became clear that, despite the best efforts of ambulance staff on scene, nothing more could be done to save her and she was confirmed deceased at the scene.

    “The second, a passenger in the second car, had sustained injuries not considered to be life-threatening, he received treatment on scene and was conveyed to Walsall Manor Hospital for further treatment.

    “The third, a passenger in the second car, was assessed at the scene and had potentially serious injuries, he was conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further treatment.

    “The fourth patient, the driver of the second car, did not wish to be assessed."
