Stay-at-home dad launches crowdfunder so he can enjoy boozy weekend away from kids

A stay-at-home dad has set up a crowdfunder as he hopes to have a boozy Halloween weekend with pals to get him away from cooking, tidying and "staring at four walls every day".

Daniel Lawson from Scunthorpe is dad to two girls, aged one and five, and stays at home to support his wife, Rebecca, who is a full time carer.

As well as looking after the children, he takes care of the house and prepares the family meals.

He said the last 18 months have been difficult due to the pandemic while his wife has been working as a key worker in stressful circumstances, reported GrimsbyLive.

He said: "It's been really tricky bringing up the girls whilst my wife is away at work.

He looked after the kids at home, cooking their dinners and dressing them while his partner works as a carer

"She's an amazing mum and does all the best she can to support us. I'm always at home tidying up and making meals for my family. I'm staring at four walls every day – it can be very demanding.

"I also make sure the children are dressed in the morning and my eldest daughter is taken to school on time.

    "It can be exhausting."

Daniel has created a GoFundMe page in a bid to finally get out of the house and have some much deserved time away.

He added: "I love Halloween. It's my favourite time of the year.

"I've got some friends in Hull and I'd like to go and meet them for a boozy weekend over the Halloween period.

"I want to meet up with them to have quite a lot of pints and get really drunk.

"My wife plans to book some time off that weekend so she can look after the kids. It would be amazing if I could have a break from it all.

"We've been living on a basic salary so we don't have the money to fund the weekend ourselves.

"I don't get out much and it would be fantastic if anyone out there can support me by spreading my wings and enjoying myself. I would like the time to have a break away from it all."

Daniel's initial target is to reach £150 so that he can have a good weekend away from the family and the household chores.

He does it all to support his wife who has been through a stressful time.

He said: "I sweep the floor, washed the dishes, washed the clothes so that when my wife does come home, she could relax.

"She's been through a stressful time with work and family and I just want to make sure I'm there for her."

The GoFundMe appeal states: "As you may know Halloween is coming up, HALLOWEEN is my favourite time of year.

"Unfortunately my family have come into money issues due to unforeseen circumstances.

"I'm Daniel and I'm a full time dad of two beautiful girls. I don't get out often and as a result all I see is the walls of my house.

"I look after my girls, tidy the house and cook for my family at the end of the day.

"With Halloween approaching I would love to take a bit of time for myself and go visit some friends, but we cannot afford the funds.

"Though I suffer from depression I try to stay strong for my girls by putting on a smile.

"It would mean the world if I could raise the funds to go visit some friends for the weekend commencing Halloween.

"If you could find it in your hearts to give a guy a well-deserved break, it would surely lift my spirits. Thank you."
