Nick Kyrgios’ X-rated admission as tennis star admits to feeling ‘horny’ on court

Nick Kyrgios’ X-rated admission as tennis star admits to feeling ‘horny’ on court

While Nick Kyrgios ' prickly attitude may give tennis fans the impression of a rock-hard exterior, the controversial Australian has shown he has a softer side after all.

Life as a professional tennis player can grow lonely at times, and the effects of being separated from loved ones have been exacerbated since the Covid-19 pandemic took hold in early 2020.

Since turning professional in 2013, Canberra-born Kyrgios has cultivated an image as one of the sport's stonier and more contentious figures.

One might assume the 26-year-old thrives on his independence as a result, but when it comes to missing his girlfriend in particular, the hurt appears to be real.

Kyrgios spoke on the impact that absence could have in regards to his on-court performance, particularly earlier on in his career.

“With my first girlfriend, I was away from her for six months at a time,” Kyrgios said on his No Boundaries podcast, which he launched earlier in November.

“When you’re trying to perform at the highest level, you start missing someone like emotionally, physically and it becomes a sexual frustration.

“I’m on court and I can’t play because I’m a bit horny, if you know what I mean.

“It doesn’t matter if you’re in an office job… If you’re not seeing your significant other, it affects you, your work, your mood, everything.

“I was the moodiest m*********r when I was away from my missus for that long.”

Kyrgios has been in an on-off relationship with model Chiara Passari since mid-2020, but he's also dated fellow tennis players Anna Kalinskaya and Ajla Tomljanovic in recent years.

Police were called to the hotel where Kyrgios and Passari were quarantining in October shortly after the latter posted a photo on social media allegedly showing her boyfriend in bed with another woman.

A career on the international tennis scene has taken the world No. 92 to some of the world's most exotic locations, but it comes at a cost as far as distance is concerned.

It wasn't only his partner Kyrgios would miss on tour, either, after he opened up about the effects of being separated from his family for such lengthy periods of time.

“My relationship with my family wasn’t great a few years ago because I was always away and didn’t have my family around me,” Kyrgios continued.

“I was winning, losing, going through relationship problems, dealing with other problems and I was pushing them away because you feel like the world’s against you.

“I pushed everyone who was close to me away and I fell out with people and that’s something I’d never want again.”

Nick Kyrgios has repeatedly shown his frustrations on the court and smashed racquets on several occasions

Despite the perception around Kyrgios as a fiery, often mouthy figure who has fallen foul of umpires on numerous occasions, he's also exposed his more sensitive side at times.

He broke into tears on live television in early 2020 when he was asked to speak about the bushfires devastating Australia (and particularly his native Canberra) at the time.

The global pandemic has forced many tennis stars into strict protocols, and avoiding a bubble enclosure led Kyrgios to abstain from the 2020 editions of the French Open and the U.S. Open.

Measures have since been relaxed, though Kyrgios went on to voice his frustration with Australian Rules football players raising resistance about the bubble demands.

“You have AFL guys complaining that they have to do a one-month bubble in Australia, and I’m like dude, I’m going seven months a year abroad in a new place every week and I’m like 'what the f**k',” Kyrgios added.

“That’s why tennis is so hard, in my opinion. The mental game is ridiculous. Physically, you have to be an absolute animal.

“What other sport do you have to play for three-plus hours, possibly seven times in two weeks? It doesn’t happen.

“I’m pretty sure that’s why I lost my f****** marbles.”

Kyrgios has lost his opening match in each of the past four tournaments he's entered and last recorded a victory at the Atlanta Open in July.
