Inside the ridiculously cool underwater suites right by the Great Barrier Reef

There are some pretty incredible once-in-a-lifetime holidays to be had around the world, but a stay at the incredible Reef Suites is going straight to the top of our travel wishlist.

Not only are the ridiculously cool rooms UNDERWATER, but they also happen to be right by the Great Barrier Reef.

Thanks to their floor-to-ceiling windows, that means you can watch the colourful marine life right from the comfort of your bed, or even while taking a shower in the ensuite bathroom.

Serious dream holiday fodder right there.

The suites are located on Reefworld, a pontoon about 40 nautical miles from Airlie Beach in Queensland, meaning that it's a pretty remote and quiet location, so there's an abundance of wildlife to meet.

Cruise Whitsundays offers stays at the underwater rooms, and the whole package is filled with bucket-list worthy experiences.

We're talking a helicopter flight to see the iconic Heart Reef, a semi-submarine tour, a trip to the underwater observatory, and of course countless opportunities to snorkel or dive so you can make the most of the surroundings.

Reefworld is usually a day-trip destination, but you can book the suites for the overnight stay, which is all-inclusive complete with a dinner under the stars on the Pontoon Deck before you retreat to your room.

Unsurprisingly, a stay doesn't come cheap.

Prices start from $899 (approx £503) a night for a double room, or $1299 (approx £727) for a single room, which includes your meals and drinks and most of the activities. (Some experiences such as the helicopter ride come with an additional cost).

At the time of writing, international travel is banned for Brits as part of national lockdowns across the UK. In England, it's hoped that foreign travel could resume from May 17 as part of the lockdown roadmap.

However, it's worth noting that Australia continues to keep its borders closed to tourists, and the country's Health Department Secretary previously hinted that borders may stay closed for 2021.
